Welcome to the Morning upgrade podcast with Ryan Cote, where we feature casual conversations with entrepreneurs about personal development and growth.

Ryan

Hey, Adrian. Welcome to the Morning Upgrade podcast. How's it going?

Adrian

It's going wonderful, man, thanks a lot for having me.

Ryan

I'm excited to talk to you. These 15 minutes are gonna be fun. Let's tell my audience of Morning Upgraders who you are and what you do for a living, and then share a win that's happening in your life right now.

Adrian

So you know how when you go through life, you go through some experiences that cause you to question whether or not you're good enough and worthy enough? And then, before you know it, you start sabotaging your success when things are going really well. And you're just not doing everything that you want to do. In order to be who you want to be, you know, are we experienced that a lot? Oh, yeah, what I do is that I go in, and I reverse engineer why that happens for people, and I find those. In other words, I just helped them eliminate the problems by going directly to the root cause of it. And that is always hanging out in the subconscious. I call myself a behavior change specialist because, at the end of the day, I help people be different. And in order to consistently act differently consistently, you have to be a certain person, right? So that's what I help people do so they can get more out of themselves. And a big win that's going on for me right now is I actually just got a green light on a couple of people that I'm looking to sell. I'm building out a technology company that's going to gamify emotional intelligence for children. This has been a project of mine I've been working on lately. It's like tech stuff, right? But I just got a. There's a big partner. I can't say their name yet. But they're really big people. I'm getting their work integrated into the platform. And I got a bit, yet I got a yes from them this morning saying, Hey, we're opening into the partnership and the license agreement, and it's going to be big for the brand because they have such a name. So that's a big win. We got that, we got that. And that's very exciting.

Ryan

I would say it's a big win. You must be feeling pretty good right now.

Adrian

I'm feeling, and that's why I tell you, I'm having a great day today, man.

Ryan

So I usually start with talking about your morning routine, but you're what used to what you do triggers another question. You talk about rewiring people. I'm assuming that's from my research on you. That's through hypnosis.

Adrian

Yes. So hypnosis is it's like a tool in the toolbox. We utilize hypnosis, NLP, and a little bit of acceptance therapy. And I just put it all together. And we've been able to create this neuro-remapping method that utilizes different modalities with everything. But yeah, so hypnosis is a big part of what I do. I'm not like a Hypno test; you know what I mean? So it's just like a big part of what I do, though. Yes.

Ryan

Okay. So obviously, you want people to reach out to you and learn more about what you do. But that said, are there? Is there anything someone listening could do on their own? That would help them. Is it meditation? Is it like, is it like affirmations? Is there anything that we can do on our own, maybe, as part of our morning routine, to rewire our brains?

Adrian

Yeah, that's a really good amount of things you can do. So two things really quick, the first thing actually becomes aware of what you believe. Because step two becomes very difficult. If you don't even know what your core beliefs are. What I mean by your core beliefs is, what do you actually think is true about yourself? We have to understand your life. What you're experiencing in your physical environment is an after-effect of what you genuinely believe about yourself. And so understanding that is the only thing you have to rewire. It's not about reprogramming your past childhood; all of that is just changing beliefs. But you can't change what you're not aware of. So I recommend you grab a piece of pen and paper and write out what I believe about life. What do I believe about myself? And what do I believe about others? If you just take the time to do that, you'll be well ahead of the game because most people are not aware of what goes on in their minds. So that's just one thing I'm gonna, like, just throw out there. I strongly encourage people to do that a lot of people bypass it. But I know I'm talking to a podcast where the audience their action is taken to be used in a great way. But aside from that, something that you can do on a daily basis is it's actually a very. It's a scientific approach to rewiring the neural pathway and getting what you want. So let's imagine you have a belief that says I'm not I'm not good enough. And you want to adopt the belief that I'm more than enough. Ask yourself, so ask yourself, if I can believe anything to be true, what would that be? And then find that belief. I recommend you stick with like one big belief, right? For me, it's that I'm worthy and deserving of everything I want that encompasses so much in it, right? So find what that power suggestion is. I like to say that power of belief and then ask myself, what would this look like? If it was real? If I genuinely believed this? What would it look like? What would I be doing? What would I be doing? I'm who would I be? How would I act? And then, when you have that clear, begin this process of theta state visualization. So most people talk about visualizing, but you don't really get the biggest effect out of visualizing. If you're doing it in beta brainwaves. Beta brainwaves are what I and you are in right now, Ryan, and that's I'm boring you to death; you're an alpha. But we're in this beta state. Just beneath this is alpha bunnies you're gonna find beta. Getting into theta brainwaves in a sec is a significant way to reprogram your mind literally because, in beta brainwaves, the doorway between your conscious and unconscious wings is wide open. So you can literally reprogram your self-guiding system or your self-operating system, we can say. So how to get into beta is very simple. And you can do this on a daily basis, put your eyeballs up, like you're trying to look at your forehead, and then keeping your eyeballs in that position, put your eyelids down, and you're going to get a really rapid fluttering sensation happening in and around your eyes. When that starts happening, that's called a rapid eye movement. Just tilt your head down, and a mat gives you an image of going deeper. In other words, walking down a flight of stairs is really powerful. Because your mind communicates symbolically. So if you envisioned yourself walking down a flight of stairs, you are literally going deeper into different states. When you have your eye fluttering, look down, and imagine yourself walking down a flight of stairs. Now you're in theta. Alright, just imagine, say, step 10. I'm going deeper. Step nine, I'm going deeper, all the way down to step one. Now you're in data. And then what you want to do from there is recall a past memory that makes you feel very, very confident about yourself, very good about yourself. And then, since the motion is very necessary to change your brain if you repeat affirmations, and visualization, while you don't have an intense emotion, you get nothing out of that. The easiest way to engage and initiate an intense emotion is to recall intense positive experiences. Just close your eyes, and imagine it happening. When that feeling is real. When you feel it in your nervous system, then begin picturing that new belief happening for you. Begin picturing yourself living in that new belief, owning that picture, taking ownership of it, living it, creating it, breathing it, eating it sleeping it really be in that picture. But make sure when you're in that picture you're in, you're in beta. And number two is there is an intense positive emotion. During this process this process takes about 15 to 30 minutes a day. This is part of our morning routine, actually, getting myself in a state of trance, revisiting a past memory to get my emotions really intense. And then I jump straight over to visualize what I want, a brand new belief that in itself is more than enough to literally create different neural pathways in your brain. But it's you have to make sure a positive emotion is present. Whereas this does not work whatsoever.

Ryan

Very interesting, and this is all new to me. Yeah, the thought of looking up and the eyes fluttering, and he tried movement. I have not tried it, but I will.

Adrian

Yeah, yeah, it's a really interesting thing. And it doesn't naturally, so everybody's eyes will do it. It's wonderful; it's like a Xanax, I like to say, because it calms your nervous system down so fast, so quickly, because we do it before we go to sleep. So when you start doing it in your waking state, your brain sends the chemicals asleep, which is, you know, pretty cool.

Ryan

Your eyes are closed, right? You're doing this? That's probably a dumb question, but your eyes are closed.

Adrian

Yeah, so it's like, I'm gonna turn my camera on really quick. So you can see this was like you're gonna look up with your eyeballs. And then down with your eyelids now looks like that. Do you see that?

Ryan

Okay, yeah, everyone's back. You can see it, but his eyes are fluttering. Okay.

Adrian

Yeah, literally flutter like they literally flutter. Yeah.

Ryan

Okay, so talked about your morning routine. It's part of it. I want to go to that. But I have one more question, kind of circling around this topic I was wondering your opinion about. There are a lot of people who recommend before you go to bed, you ask your subconscious questions or things you need help with or things. Maybe it's like rewiring things like statements or affirmations before you go to bed or as you're drifting to sleep because your subconscious will chew on them as you're sleeping. Do you believe that or not?

Adrian

So it's not about giving your subconscious things it's about we got to understand the conscious mind is far vast and when we actually think it is, the subconscious is part like the conscious mind exists in the subconscious. That's why I a lot of people separate their minds there really is no separation there. The metaphor I used earlier with the door in between it's literally just a metaphor; there is no separation between the mind. So it's just having the belief that your conscious mind is it is that if the creative part is the creator of you, that belief alone will help you become aware of supposedly subconscious data. But so what you're doing is you're giving your mind an order. So, for me, like for this company I'm building now, a lot of this company is coming to me to my dreams. I do. I specifically have trained myself for my dream work. So dream work is a reality when you're in a dream. It's not a dream. They're living realities; I want you to think about you just turning your conscious attention to a different realm of experience. That's what a dream is if it actually exists. And so you can tell your inner self, or you can tell your vast identity, hey, I'm working on this project, I have this, this, and this figured out, please give me this other part during my rest tonight. Giving it very specific instructions is powerful. And even suggest to yourself, when I wake up, I will feel competent. When I wake up, I will wake up at this time sharp, and I will be energetic. Those kinds of suggestions are powerful, and I like to use them for problem-solving. So if you have problems going on in your life, you can solve them through dreams. But it's very important that you believe that you can because if you don't, you will block out as you will literally block that from your mind. But lead that is genuinely possible to solve dreams and solve problems and dreams. And then give yourself problems that you want to solve before you go to bed. And you will find it to be true. But if you want to become aware of your dreams, I recommend you change your sleep schedule if you can keep your sleep schedule till about three to four hours of sleep per cycle. So you sleep for three to four hours, work your day a little bit, and take another two-hour nap. I get eight hours in every day. But I just get it in throughout the day. When you sleep like this, it keeps you closer to your dream world because there are fewer interval intervals between the waking state and the sleeping state. So when you sleep like this over time, you will begin remembering your dreams like you remember yesterday.

Ryan

I find that if I go to sleep with a problem, sometimes I wake up with the answer. Same thing with meditation sometimes when I'm meditating, but in my mind, still, things will pop into my head, like possible resolutions like oh, that might work.

Adrian

I mean, that happens because you hit gamma. So when you're in that, when you're in alpha or theta, what happens is your mind is relaxed. And so your mind can start solving different problems and making different connections because your brain and your mind are the most effective when it's calm. When it's calm, we experience what we call gamma spikes, which are these high, high, high vibrating spikes of an injury in the brain. When you experience a gamma, it's because you had a wow moment you can make different connections with old ideas that gave you a new solution to something that seems like it's brand new, but it's just old information reorganized in a different way. But if you want to recall those kinds of solutions, it's very important that you learn how to keep your mind in alpha and theta at certain times of the day. So when you meditate, you dip into alpha very frequently. So that's why that happens.

Ryan

Have you ever read a book called Peace is Every Step, or have you heard of it?

Adrian

Yeah. By Thich Nhat Hanh, right?

Ryan

Yes.

Adrian

Oh, yeah. I love that book. Man. I've read so many by Thich Nhat Hanh, I have read. He has been such a big part of my life and my spiritual journey since I started. Yeah, I've read a lot of his books. That's an amazing book there.

Ryan

It's really interesting reading is part of my morning routine I read because little short, little chapters, like really short. And it's about mindfulness and keeping yourself calm, and finding the joy in everything you do, from washing the dishes to breathing to walking. And it's, I don't know, it's having like a soothing effect. When I read it. I feel calmer. I don't know.

Adrian

Yeah, dude. Yes, I totally get you. That book was a big one, and that one, and there's another one that says you are here by him. And it is kind of like the same idea. But I know what you mean, if Energiewende those books to man, so you're gonna feel that.

Ryan

It's crazy. So we're almost through this whole conversation. And I've not asked you about your morning routine. I'm loving this. I love what we're talking about, though; this is very different. And you're just making my head swarm with different thoughts.

Adrian

And, so good. That's my job.

Ryan

But let's talk about your morning routine. What does that look like?

Adrian

Yeah, so I wake up around 3 am. Again, remember, I have like a weird sleep schedule. But I wake up around three or 4 am. And then the first thing that I do automatically is I, of course, other than walking up, wash my face really quickly. I'm not a part of it. But I come back to my bed. I sit up; I don't sit down to vote it down; I fall asleep. And then I do everything I just told you that before trance gets, I get myself into data. And then I visualized for about 15 to 30 minutes, but it's usually 30 minutes straight. And I'll do the exact process I just told you to write the data or recall a path event and then start picturing what I want. So I typically only focus on one picture until it actually happens. I don't change pictures and visions constantly. I focus on one consistently. That's the first thing that I do as soon as I'm done with that. I like to ask them myself very law; I like to ask myself lofty questions for my morning check-in, which is, why is today going to be an absolutely amazing day? I don't ask myself, what is going to be great about today? I'm like, why is this going to be a great day? I'm proud. I'm giving myself reasons why it's going to be an absolutely wonderful day. Then I asked myself, How do I want to feel at the end of the day I realize a lot of us set goals in terms of like, I want to get this done this, done this, done this done. But if you realize it, when you do those things, it makes you feel some kind of way. And if I'm feeling accomplished at the end of every day, that's a sitting of accomplishment or creating success after success after success. Because when you feel successful, you literally create more success. That's why when you're winning, shit just kind of starts working, right? You start winning even more. So I like to focus my mind in the moment in the morning on why this is going to be a great day in what feeling I want to end the day with because when I can start with what filling on the end of the day with, now I have multiple different ways that that can happen. And so I'm not stuck to living, I'm not stuck to doing. One, I'm not stuck to a very rigid schedule. Where I live by a schedule, but if something comes up that allows me to still accomplish what I want, just in a different way, I will allow myself to do that. Does that make sense?

Ryan

So what have you noticed in your life from doing all this?

Adrian

I don't have to try a lot for things to happen. This licensing agreement, again, I can't say their name yet. But trust me when I'm pretty sure your listeners know who they are. This was very spontaneous. And it happened because, again, I live very spontaneously, like I'm not an I have scheduled, but I allowed myself to go out of it. But because I allowed myself to go out of the schedule. One day, I went to a networking event where I met this person who was actually, like, there was no in-between person in between them and this individual that I was able to get partnered with, right? And so I'm noticing a lot of spontaneous things kind of when I have a when I have things, I need resources, it kind of happens, I needed some funding to start developing what I'm developing. And without really going through like fundraising process, I was having people say I like your idea there any way I can throw you some money to help you with this thing. It's an interesting approach to living as opposed to expecting very specific things to happen. I just expect myself to feel a certain way. If I can expect to feel a certain way every day, many things are going to happen to continue making me feel that way. Does that make sense?

Ryan

Does it become like a magnet, I find that I get luckier when I'm really into my morning routine and personal development and the content I consume. So yeah, I get what you're saying. Yeah, sure, yeah.

Adrian

And then after that after that, I always read for about 20 to 30 minutes a day. So I read 30 minutes a day are either do 15 minutes in the morning, 15 minutes in the evening or just do straight 30 minutes in the morning. But in order for me to like actually get out of bed, it's very important that I've fed myself intellectually and spiritually through my visualizations. So one of the things that I do every morning is I'll spend about five minutes with my feet on the ground, or thing, have you ever heard of grounding yourself or anything, your feet on the ground? I'll do that while repeating the M sound au M M, M is a sound of the university that reorganizes the nervous system entirely. Whenever you just, um, I'll do that for five minutes. As I'm grounding myself. My time; I'm done with that, man. It's like I do an internal bath. And so I'm just ready to go at that point.

Ryan

Man, that's a heck of a routine. I love it.

Adrian

I love it. And I have always had a light version because I just kind of do travel, and I'm speaking next week, and I'm probably not going to do the full thing. So I always recommend people have a light version of their routine. And my late version is very simple. Five minutes visualizing, five minutes reading, and yeah, that's it. He still helped me get what I needed to get in. Like that's it. But I believe having a light routine is important.

Ryan

It is, you know, want to break the cycle. So it's like the atomic habits, like you know, or what's the phrase they say like, Done is better than skipping or smallest better than skipping, I can't remember, basically like just keep the momentum going.

Adrian

That's like being able to check off I did my routine today whether it's my full or light; that alone that dopamine that you get leading up to that moment makes you want to do it again.

Ryan

So I've got one last question for you, Adrian then we're gonna wrap up with you telling everyone how they can learn more about you. I'm really curious about your answer about the meaning of life just because you're so like you seem so in tuned and, and your background with the brain and rewiring and all that subconscious. In 30 seconds or less. In through your lens. You're in your personal opinion, what is the meaning of life experience?

Adrian

That you should experience absolutely the depth of everything, every thought that comes your way, don't deny it experience and every fitting that comes your way, don't deny it. Experience it. validate your own personal experience. And life is not like you can't think your way through life. You feel your way through life.

Ryan

Yeah, I'm gonna add to that. And then we'll then you can share your website. We're big into road trips, and, you know, in the US and just the adventure of experiencing different cities and states and food and meeting new people. And it's just really. You get addicted to it. I'm 100% on board with you. Experience.

Adrian

And I think one thing about that really quick. Yeah, when it comes to experience, that's great. I don't mean experience in terms of entirety in terms of you going here; you go there, you're going there. I also mean, can you experience the sensations of your feet on the ground right now? Can you experience the intensity of death of a full freaking feeling? Can you experience the intensity of a sound? Can you pay attention to the silence and hear the sound in silence? Because there's always a sound there. I mean, immersing yourself fully into your living experience at this moment, wherever you are, whether that's in Barcelona or in your office.

Ryan

Basically, being fully present. But you're saying some deep Nhat Hanh stuff, man. All right. Well, this is great. Very interesting, very interesting. If people want to learn more about you, where should we send them?

Adrian

So if they actually want to learn a little bit more about how I can help them, just go to www.rewiremythoughts.com/apply. And that'll take you straight to where you can, like, actually learn about me. But if you want to experience what I talked about in this episode, in terms of me learning how to tap into theta brainwaves and utilize your imagination in that state to change your behavior, go to the same www.rewiremythoughts.com, just go to slash unshakable. And that will take you to like a free video where you can actually experience a bit of what I talked about here today.

Ryan

Got it. Perfect. Yeah, we'll link those up on the show notes page. Thanks, Adrian.

Adrian

Great stuff. Thanks for having me, Ryan.
